About Gene Search

Gene Search is a mobile application designed to help researchers, students, and biology enthusiasts explore genetic and protein information. The app retrieves data in real-time from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) database.

The app allows users to:

• Search genes across multiple species (Human, Mouse, Fruit Fly)
• View detailed gene information including descriptions, locations, and aliases
• Explore protein sequences and structures
• Save favorite genes and proteins locally on their device
• Share gene and protein information with colleagues

Data We Do NOT Collect

Gene Search does not collect any of the following:

• Personal information (name, email, phone number)
• Location data
• Device identifiers
• Usage analytics or tracking data
• Search queries or history stored on our servers
• Any data transmitted to our servers

We have no servers, no databases, and no backend infrastructure that stores user data.

Local Storage

The only data stored by Gene Search is your saved favorites (genes and proteins you choose to save). This data is stored exclusively on your device using local storage and is never transmitted to any server.

You can delete this data at any time by uninstalling the app.

Third-Party Data Sources

Gene Search retrieves scientific data from the following public database:

• NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information) — All gene and protein data is retrieved in real-time from NCBI's public API (Entrez Programming Utilities). This is publicly available scientific data. Please refer to NCBI's policies for more information.

When you search for a gene or protein, a query is sent to NCBI's public API. This is equivalent to visiting the NCBI website directly. No personal information is included in these queries.

No Advertising

Gene Search contains no advertisements and does not use any advertising SDKs or tracking technologies. Your usage of the app is completely private.

Children's Privacy

Gene Search does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app is safe for use by students of all ages as a scientific research tool.

Changes to This Policy

If we make any changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Since we collect no personal data, any changes are unlikely to affect your privacy.
